As far as our house, we have absolutely no updates....zero, zilch, nada. The plumber has not completed any additional work since my last post, which puts him at approximately a 3 month rough in to date. That's got to be a record for the longest rough in job. We have been given every excuse imaginable, as to why it's not complete. None really viable. On April 28th, I wrote a post and quoted Joyce Meyer. She spoke about how everything has a beginning, middle and end. The beginning and end are exciting, but that middle!! That's where we are at.....slap in the middle. It is very frustrating and we have no idea what kind of time frame we are looking at now.. The excitement is gone for now and we are down to the nitty gritty. There have been days that I have told Paul to just put a for sale sign up. Most days I'm grateful for this opportunity God gave us and pray hard we will see the completion of this old farm house soon.
Although, not much has been going on in the house, Paul and I have been working very hard. We picked up some hay for the cows. We bought some 4x4 rolls from the nicest man. He told Paul him and his wife would come over and teach us to vaccinate and deworm our cows.
Paul installed a water line of over 300 feet. Paul had lots of good supervision!! That was one of the excuses as to why the plumber had not been able to rough in the kitchen...there was no water line.🤷🏼♀️ Now there is water to the house and its a guessing game as to what the next reason for delay will be.
Paul actually teed off of the water line and installed us a water faucet close to the implement shed. It is awesome to have running water again at the farm!!!
Candy and Wilma were the first to try out the corral and Headgate. On November 10, we had a vet, Dr. Jordan, come out to preg check Wilma and Candy. Unfortunately, as we feared, neither one is pregnant😢. They have an appointment next weekend to spend some time with a bull. We will surely miss seeing them in our fields!! Not real sure how long they will be gone. On a positive note, our corral worked great and held up beautifully!! We also had a few additional ideas of things we could do to the corral to make it easier to return the cows to their correct field. I arrived at the farm around 2:30 on November 10, and began attempting to get Wilma and Candy in the corral. I left Brantlee in the car and told her to watch and if you see me fly through the air or getting gored call 911!! I also made sure she knew what the address was.😂 Everything went well and I was so good, that I caught 4 cows in the corral😂.
The highparks are very pushy to the jersey's, so the jersey's were ready to get out when I cracked the gate open for them. Although I was shaking all over when I finished, I felt so accomplished!! While Dr. Jordan was there, Fitz came over and released some severe diarrhea in front of him. He got corralled next. He was still eating and drinking very good, so Dr gave him a dewormer and antibiotic. Candy was the first in the chute and Paul caught her in the head gate. It went so smoothly. Candy & Wilma got a dewormer and tetanus vaccination. We discovered Candy and Wilma both are very dramatic. Poor old baby Fitz didn't make a sound when getting shots. Wilma and Candy acted like they were being tortured. Wilma was next in the chute. Wilma is always the X factor. She didn't want to go in the chute. The vet got in the corral with her and she attempted to charged at him. He pushed her head away and she backed off. Paul is always good at handling moody women.😂 He baby talked her and coaxed her into the chute with food. Then she went through the chute so fast that Paul wasn't able to catch her in the Headgate. It was Fitz's turn while we regrouped with Wilma. We corralled Wilma and Candy again and was able to catch Wilma in the head gate the second go around. Brantlee came over and told me something was wrong with the baby donkey.
I went with Brantlee to the barn and sure enough Jasmin was sick and throwing up. The Dr thinks she got into some of the cow feed we had out while working with the cows and aspirated. She got a couple of shots too and the Dr told us she needed to be in a stall overnight. I walked her to a stall and then as Brantlee use to say "she put her heavy on." Paul and I both worked with her, but when she got to the door of the stall it was like her hooves were nailed to the ground!! We just put her back in the field with her momma. She was fine the next morning. Running around and kicking up her heels.
On October 25, our little escape artist (aka Iris) was at it again.
This time she broke a gate that was between the two fields. By the time we found it, the cows were all mixed up. Britta and Barry went to the back field and Iris came to the front field. Paul and I decided that since it seems very important to Iris to be in the front field we would let her stay, bring the jerseys up front and move the other 2 highparks to the back. The donkey's, Fitz and Lita were very easy to move to the front field. Candy was very easy to move to the back field. The X factor (Wilma) would not move to the back. She ended up staying with the jersey's for a couple of weeks. The highparks never tried to eat the magnolias Paul had planted in the front field, but they like to rub up against them. Paul decided he had to make time to block them off with some barbed wire. He got T post and Barbed wire and wrapped it around the magnolias. Two days later he checked on the magnolias and EVERY single leaf was gone off of ALL 10 magnolias🤦🏼♀️!!! We are just hoping they are still alive and will put out again in the spring.
This past month seems to be perfectly in line with 2020....Frustration after frustration. We all have to deal with the problem of frustration. No matter what kind of life we lead, plans go wrong and opportunities are lost. It’s just the way life is. If we try to orchestrate things to happen our way and on our own timetable, we will get frustrated. At some point, we have to turn those circumstances over to God and trust that He has our best interest at heart. My problem is figuring out how to turn it over to God. Every time I turn it over, it seems I go back and pick it up again. Here are some tips I found to help turn my frustrations over to God.
- Make the choice: Say, Precious Heavenly Father, I Choose to let you be God of this situation. I take my hands off and trust you completely.
- Worship: It is the best way to set your heart and mind to the right place. It is a sign you are trusting God and you can't worry and worship at the same time. I always feel better listening and singing along with my "Jesus Music", as Brantlee likes to call it.
