Paul found this piece of property on Tom Fitzgerald Rd over a year ago in April 2019. It was once a 225 acre dairy farm. It had been on the market close to a year when he found it. The farm was for sale for 1.3 million😳😳. The daughter was selling her family’s generational farm. We negotiated a price last year for 56 acres. The day we told them we would accept her counter, we got an email that stated the owner had withdrew her offer due to a person making an offer for the whole farm! We were devastated. We had already sold our house. We probably could have gotten out of the contract on our house, but Paul and I just didn’t feel like that was the right thing to do. So we prayed and prayed some more and then June 2019 we packed up and moved into our lake house. Then we got really crazy and sold the lake house. We had no idea what we would do. We needed to be mortgage free so we wouldn’t have to make another offer contingent on the sale of our house. We came up with a plan to purchase a small fixer upper that we could just outright buy. We made offers on 2 properties in Danville and both were a resounding NO. We found one in hartselle that we liked the curb appeal more than the inside, but before we could make our minds up it sold. Paul had a friend that said he had rental house he could sell us. We were resistant to that because it was right across the street from the school and at that time it didn’t seem like an advantage. However, everything we tried just didn’t seem to work out and it looked like our only option left was to purchase the house by the school. So that’s what we did. When I told Brantlee she busted out crying. She didn’t want to live right by the school in an old pink house😥. Fast forward 6 months.......the little 760 sq ft pink house, that is now grey, turned out to be the perfect transition house for us. Brantlee and I both LOVE the convenience of living by the school. The house turned out even cuter than I expected. It is still close quarters for everyone, but I found a little sign that hangs by our door that says, “Love grows best in little houses just like this”. I try to remind myself of that on the days that we all seem to be tripping over each other. During this time we were still searching for a farm in Tennessee. We had a great realtor who kept telling us to keep the faith, God would send us the perfect property. We told her several times how much we loved Tom Fitzgerald, which we had been keeping eye on and it was not saying sold on any sites, just contingent. We asked her to check on it and she did. She was told that it was definitely going to close. After quite a while it did close and was marked sold on all sites.😥. We kept looking and nothing quite grabbed us like Tom Fitzgerald. In February 2020, we had gone to TN to look at a property. We drove by Tom Fitzgerald after not being really impressed with the property we had gone to see. Nothing had changed on Fitzgerald it stilled looked abandoned. So we looked it up on the tax map and saw an investor had purchased it. We talked to our realtor about it and she said, ”I’ll find out who that is and I will just ask them if they would sell the part you want”. She did, they were willing to sale, we agreed on price and on April 10, 2020 ...We bought OUR farm!!
God works out things for those that love the Lord. (Romans 8:28) I feel like I fail Him all the time, but he still loves me, knows my heart and is still working things out for my good. Paul and I have no doubt that God orchestrated the perfect plan for us to purchase our farm When we were about to make a bad decision, I feel he closed those doors to guide us to the right ones. So remember when things don’t seem to be working out and your getting frustrated, it could be that God is directing you to a better plan, His plan. Paul told me one time, during one of my many melt downs over not getting Tom Fitzgerald....”Why are you so upset? I’m excited to see the farm He has in mind for us!!!” He was right & I try so hard to remember this during those frustrating times. After 40 something years I’m still seeing God’s plans are ALWAYS better than mine!! He made it possible for us to purchase the old farm we fell in love with at first sight. Now our journey begins in restoring this old farm........ Silo Springs.
Inside Pictures coming soon of the house and barn we will begin renovating😬😬😬
