"It's Gonna Get Better" is my theme song right now.  Things seem to be moving slowly these days.  We have started repairing floors.  It is quite the mess inside & outside the house.  The problem we are having is that the crawl space is very shallow in certain areas.  It is less than 12" in some spots, which makes it almost impossible to get underneath the house to raise the joist or add new supports.  So large rectangles are being cut out of the floor in certain areas to be able to work on the floor supports.  The rolling floors are looking better, but still have a ways to go. Last time Paul and I was there by ourselves, we were able to fix a water leak.  In the past, every time we went to look at this place the owners had the water continuously running in the kitchen.  One neighbor even told us that he had seen the owner take the water hose out to their garden and let it run all night and they never ran out of water. ...

The last weekend in April, Paul and I went up to the farm with the intentions of getting a lot of work done. It turned out to be a cold and rainy weekend. So we did the next best thing and poked around in the house. We found wood sheathing, which is very similar to shiplap, on all walls and we found gorgeous old oak floors throughout the whole house. The hallway and kitchen are going to be a little more difficult to uncover. It has 2-3 layers of different flooring and then a sheet of plywood and then an additional 2-3 layers of vinyl.🤦🏼‍♀️ We pulled back some of the vinyl siding and found old clap board that appeared to be in fairly good condition. Hopefully, most of the siding will clean up and we will be able to use the majority of it. We did have a new garage door installed.
