Merry Christmas (John 3:17)

It's 5:30 am and me and the roosters seem to be the only ones who cannot sleep.  Farm life has become very time consuming especially with working full time in Alabama.  It seems I get home from work, make my rounds checking in on everyone, throw something together for dinner, eat and cleanup, sit on the sofa and fall asleep.  That is pretty much the norm for me around here.  I still love it.  There is just something special about a farm.  I can't put my finger on it, but aside from all the poop and grossness, it's pretty amazing.  Paul was gone for 3 weeks back in October, it wasn't the same without him here.  I think part of that specialness is having a husband that you are working with to create a life that neither of you were familiar with, but working, learning and trying to be successful at it.... together. The Farmhouse The farm house is still a work in progress.  I think we will always have something to be working on in this hous...

It's Been Awhile--(2 Timothy 3:16)

The last 5 months of 2022 flew by rather quickly.  It was Thanksgiving and then before I knew it, we were in full holiday mode. Then it was over.  Many of the things I had hoped we would get done in the house did not happen before the holidays.  However, we had a very nice 1st Christmas in our farmhouse.  I got to see all our old Christmas decorations that have been in storage for the last three years.  We put up 3 trees.  First time ever for me to put up more than one.  It was so much fun putting everything up, but another story taking it all down. Before the holidays hit, Paul got some more trim work done.  We took a break from working to enjoy the holidays and to prepare for the arctic blast that hit.  We did have some pipes that froze, but thankfully nothing busted!!  With the mild temps after the holidays, we worked outside.   We got an estimate for someone to do the banister upstairs.  When the estimate came in, I text Pa...

And Just like that its FALL...(1 Peter 1:5)

WOW, blink your eyes and fall is already in full swing.  Leaves have turned in Tennessee and already falling off the trees.  I am so glad to say goodby to the mosquitoes and chiggers.  If no one else loved me this summer, they did!!!  The drive to and from Alabama hasn't been too bad and the fall scenery has been amazing!!!  I have seen some gorgeous sunrises and actually a few sunsets on the way home.  Brantlee has transferred back to Hartselle High School, so now I have some company on the journey to and from school.  It's been nice spending time with her every morning and afternoon.  She usually retreats to her room, but now she is stuck with me 3 hours everyday.  Some days I just look at her and can't believe how much she has grown up.  Where does the time go?   Not much has been done on the inside of the house.  The weather has been so nice we have been concentrating on getting some outdoor projects done before ...

Where did summer go? (Ephesians 3:20)

The Farmhouse    Wow!! Summer was a blur.... it was here and then gone before I knew it. We have made a lot of progress and are actually living in the house!!!  We sold our house in Hartselle within a week of it being listed.  We closed June 3rd.  We lived upstairs in the farmhouse and slept on an air mattress for the first month of summer.   We had tile work done the last 2 weeks of June and floors refinished the week after July 4th.  Paul has been working on trimming out the doors and windows.  After he trims, I caulk and paint.    Shiplap has been installed on the stairwell with vertical boards. I got the job of painting all of that. He hung the back door that I stained and varnished. It’s amazing to finally have a door knob on the back door!! Paul hung our hood vent, which was pretty funny to watch.  It did take all 3 of us to get it on the wall initially. We got our closet systems installed.  The master closet took a lot o...
